3rd win takes Brixworth to 4th
|
Colin SIbley believes his side has now picked up the ‘winning habit’ that is so crucial to success in the league.
Brixworth have climbed to fourth place after their first five games of the season. They beat Wellingborough Town by three wickets yesterday in a tough game that Sibley concedes could have gone horribly wrong.
Wellingborough Town set a respectable 211-8 from their 55 overs. Opening batsman, Marcus Andrew, gave his side a solid start hitting the top score of 65, he was amply supported by Joshua Bateman who hit a well made 33. Dave Marlow was the pick of the bowlers, claiming four wickets for 51 from his 17 overs. kept the target to a minimum
Sibley said, “We did not have a good start and found ourselves at 80-4, it could have gone wrong from there, but Alex came in at number seven and played a brilliant innings that took us home to a great win.”
Former captain, Alex Lacey, steered the Brixworth ship home after a well-crafted 47*, Fraser Bennett narrowly missed out on a well deserved 50, getting 49 and the go-to player, Stephen Crook, started the Brixworth run chase off well with 42 at the top of the order.
Brixworth will take their momentum to Stony Stratford next week where they will look to continue to their fine run of form. Brixworth are currently in tenth place and searching for their first win of the season.
